- THIS IS A GROUP BLOG BY PEOPLE WHO LIVED AT THE SUNNYRIDGE COMMUNE, an alternative community that existed from 1969 to 1980 in southern Oregon.
Hi my name is Jim Heckler . My wife of 47 years passed away on 12/24/21 after a brief but ferocious struggle with breast cancer. Her name was Joyce Heckler but her maiden name was Joyce Wilansky. She lived at Sunny ridge for approximately 3 years around 1969 - 1973. She had a premature child, Rebekah, who was born about at about 6.5 months of term. I married Joyce in 1974 and adopted Becky shortly after that. The biological father was named David who was originally from Syracuse, I believe, and was a photographer with a base in New Paltz. Becky would like to have contact with David in an effort to learn more about her ancestry . She is now 50 years old. She is legally blind and cerebral palsied. She lives in an independent situation just outside of Saratoga Springs (Gansevoort NY). I would like to help Becky with her grieving of the loss of her mother , the most absolutely most intelligent, honest, and courageous person I have ever met. He lived in Sunny Ridge commune from 1969 to 1973 and my mom who was Joyce Wilansky at the time of my birth lived at Sunny Ridge commune. I am now 52 living in an independent situation blind and have cerebral palsy. I'd like to know who my bio dad is. It's very important to me.
